National Nurses United Survey Finds Artificial Intelligence to be a Threat to Patient Safety

In a survey recently conducted by National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union and professional association of registered nurses in the US, NNU concluded that “artificial intelligence technology (A.I.) often contradicts and undermines nurses’ own clinical judgment and threatens patient safety.”

Comment on the Federal Health IT Strategic Plan

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) has published a draft five-year Federal Health IT Strategic Plan for advancing the use of electronic health information and preventing its misuse.  

The draft addresses patient safety, health equity, the privacy of personal health information, and artificial intelligence.  The draft plan was developed in collaboration with more than 25 federal organizations that regulate, purchase, develop, and use health IT to deliver care.
