The Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS) is pleased to announce that Graceland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Memphis, TN, is the first nursing facility in West Tennessee to achieve Enhanced Respiratory Care Accreditation.
In an article published in Respiratory Care: The Journal of Pulmonary Technique, Nathaniel A. Miller, Ph.D. interviews Gene Gantt, RRT, FAARC about the Enhanced Respiratory Care Program. The Enhanced Respiratory Care Program is the first standard of care for patients on mechanical ventilation. Mr Gantt is on the board of advisors for the Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety.
In the article, Mr, Gantt discusses the origins of Enhanced Respiratory Care he originated and developed in 2013 with TennCare, Tennessee’s state Medicaid program, to develop best practices for safely and successfully weaning patients off of long-term mechanical ventilation. In this interview, he discusses his successes, which have recently been standardized as a widely-recognized accreditation available nationally through the non-profit Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety.
Nursing facility first in New York State to meet new standard of care, championed by Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety
The Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS) is pleased to announce that Medford Multicare Center in Medford, NY has met or exceeded the Enhanced Respiratory Care Standards of Care.

Our Enhanced Respiratory Care Accreditation is a testament to our continuing commitment to achieving the best care for our patients.”
Kulana Malama first pediatric facility to meet the new standard of care promoted by the Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS):
The Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS) is pleased to announce that Kulana Malama in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, is the first pediatric healthcare facility in the United States to achieve Enhanced Respiratory Care accreditation.
“Our Enhanced Respiratory Care accreditation is a testament to our commitment to providing the highest quality for our patients,” said Wendell Inouye, RRT-NPS (Director, Respiratory Care Services at Kulana Malama). “Kulana Malama is Hawaii’s only stand-alone center devoted to helping children with complex medical needs. Our goal is to improve the quality of life of every child who comes to our facility.”
The Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS) is pleased to announce that Generations at Regency in Niles, Illinois, is one of the first healthcare facilities in Illinois and in the mid-west to achieve Enhanced Respiratory Care Accreditation.

Michael Wong, JD (Founder and Executive Director, Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety) emphasized the patient safety and quality of care standards that Illinois will now enjoy, saying, “When families send their loved ones and friends to a healthcare facility, they want to make sure that they are receiving the best care possible. For Illinois communities, Generations at Regency is such a facility.”
The Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS) is pleased to announce that Auburn Village in Auburn, Indiana, is the first skilled nursing facility in the State of Indiana to achieve Enhanced Respiratory Care accreditation.

On April 20, 2023, we announced that accreditation for healthcare facilities for Enhanced Respiratory Care was available.
Although just launched in April 2023, there are now about 20 healthcare facilities that are accredited, are in quality reviews, or are in discussions about Enhanced Respiratory Care Accreditation. The Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS) is pleased to announce that the Health Center at Standifer Place (HCSP) in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has met or exceeded the Enhanced Respiratory Care Standards of Care. HSCP is the second facility in the United States to receive Enhanced Respiratory Care Accreditation.
HCSP is located on a beautiful 40-acre campus near Hamilton Place Mall in scenic Chattanooga, Tennessee. HCSP consists of a 474-bed skilled nursing center, assisted living, adult day care, independent living, and assistive services home and community-based services.
12 years ago, the Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety was established with the mission of improving patient safety and the quality of patient care. There can perhaps be no better way to celebrate this accomplishment than today’s announcement of the first facility to receive Enhanced Respiratory Care Accreditation. Congratulations, West Meade!
